Consultation on the bill to amend the Charities Act
Many community based early years settings are charities so they may want to engage with the current consultation. The Department for Communities is seeking the views of the charity sector on changes to the Charity Act 2008. The Department states that the proposed Charities (Amendment) Bill seeks to modernise and strengthen the regulatory framework governing charities in Northern Ireland. The bill reflects recommendations from the Independent Review of Charity Regulation (the Review) and aims to ensure that the sector remains well‑supported, transparent, and proportionately regulated.
