Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) is changing

Settings may already be aware of this, but if not, it is important to be ready for changes coming up soon in how SSP is administered. The changes will take effect from 6 April 2026 and include:

1. SSP PAID from FIRST FULL DAY OF SICKNESS, instead of day four.

  • REMOVING CURRENT 3‑DAY WAITING PERIOD

2. LOWER EARNINGS LIMIT REMOVED

  • Employees will QUALIFY for SSP REGARDLESS of their EARNINGS.

3. SSP WEEKLY RATE INCREASE

  • From £118.75 to £123.25 as part of the annual uprating cycle.
