Overview

Training is of vital importance within Early Years for both parents and play leaders and staff with opportunities to learn skills and extend experience in this area. Training helps develop confidence and competence of the participants in the understanding of play and the needs of young children.

Early Years has devised a range of short courses and workshops which are mainly aimed at helping early years workers who wish to develop their practice. Many of our courses are accredited or endorsed with a recognized Awarding Body i.e.: CACHE or Institute of Leadership & Management, and in some cases have linkages with academic institutes such as Queens University Belfast.

If the course is accredited through a recognized awarding body ie: OCN NI / Institute of Leadership and Management, a short portfolio is compiled during the programme to demonstrate that learning outcomes have been met. Examples of evidence : summary of group discussions, short assignments/projects that may require some home study, personal learning logs, short assessment in the form of an end of class exam.
