Overview
Toybox is a strategic partnership between Early Years - the organisation for young children and Save the Children.
Project Vision
The Toybox Project is a rights-based service development model which aims to significantly reduce social and education inequalities experienced by young Traveller children through an outreach play-based early intervention service provided in partnership with children and parents.
Aims
- enhance the social and emotional development of Traveller children aged 0 – 4
- maximise the participation of Traveller children in at least one year's pre-school or nursery provision, and close the gap in enrolment levels between Traveller and settled children
- strengthen the capacity of Traveller parents to support their children's social and emotional development and readiness to learn, and strengthen their own confidence to learn
- strengthen effective partnership working between parents, Traveller support groups, NGO's and health and education professionals, to support the social and educational development of young Traveller children, at home and in school.
- work progressively to ensure that Traveller values and perspectives are reflected in the development and practice of Toybox
- contribute effectively to development of wider policy and practice that challenges discrimination and inequalities experienced by young Traveller children.
