The High/Scope approach to early learning is derived from development principles. Firmly rooted in practice, it has been researched, developed and shaped by new knowledge and understanding over a 40 year period.
Lifetime Effects: The High/Scope Perry Preschool Project
The High/Scope Educational research Foundation published its 40 year research in November 2004. This long term study shows the effects of a high quality early years care and education programme on low income three and four year old children. At age 40 adults who had participated in the High/Scope programme were shown to have higher earnings, be more likely to stay in employment, have higher academic achievement and to have committed fewer crimes than those in the non programme group. Overall the study shows that for every $1 invested in this preschool programme the overall return to society is over $17.
