The Knowledge Exchange Directorate continues to develop Early Years' advocacy and focus on building public awareness of the importance of early years through grass roots organising and utilising the local branch structure building on the work of the organisation over the past 45 years. The 1200 members and 15 local branch network has over that period been an enormous asset and strength in terms of our advocacy role. Support from Atlantic Philanthropies allows Early Years to develop a more strategic approach to grass roots mobilisation.
While there is all party support for the need to invest early to achieve greater returns, Early Years also recognise that in order to achieve improved outcomes for young children, there needs to be investment in programmes that work. Early years launched the Coral Initiative using the opportunity to highlight the positive evidence from the Media Initiative Respecting Difference research and will shortly launch further research on the 'Eager and Able to Learn' programme.
