A celebration event and presentation of certificates for two Respecting Difference, the Media Initiative for Children projects have taken place in Omagh. The event celebrated the success of two programmes, the Respecting Difference training programme, and the Community Relations and Integrating Children (CRAIC) - Training of Trainers, research and study intervention programme.
The event, which brought together practitioners from early years setting in Omagh, Strabane and Derry, as well as from Donegal and Monaghan, in the Fir Trees Hotel on Tuesday evening.
Early Years Chief Executive, Siobhan Fitzpatrick welcomed the event, and the success of the range of programmes which the organisation is running across Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic,
"Its always great to bring Early years staff together to recognise the achievements which the organisation is making, and the benefits which are being felt across our society. These programmes, funded by Peace 111 are hugely important and have a real impact on young children, their families and wider society. They teach small children valuable life long lessons on respecting difference. Together they aim to build a better understanding among children of physical, racial and cultural differences. Bullying behaviours and the inclusion of Traveller children are also addressed."
