Sure Start South Armagh, have been celebrating their 5th Anniversary with a week of events for children and their families.
Alongside workshops for staff and a special father's day event for children and parents, the focus of the week's celebration is the launch of a new programme to deliver care for two year old children in the South Armagh area, which will be funded by the Department of Education.
Conor McArdle, Project Co-ordinator said:
"This has been a great week of celebration for everyone; staff, parents and children involved in Sure Start South Armagh. We are both marking our 5th year bringing quality early years services for children and families, but celebrating new initiatives such as the childcare programme that we are bringing to the South Armagh area"
The programme was officially be launched on Wednesday, with guest speakers; Marie Abbot from the Department of Education and the principal of st patrick's primary school Cullyhanna. The celebration continues with a special Father Day story telling event for children and their parents on Saturday.
Reflecting on the success of South Armagh SureStart, Siobhan Fitzpatrick said "Early Years are delighted to celebrate this milestone of South Armagh Sure Start. Early Years was instrumental in establishing Sure Start in South Armagh having identified the need for innovative solutions to meet the care, health and education needs of children and families in rural areas." Siobhan congratulated the staff and management board on a significant achievement.
The development of services by Sure Start South Armagh also saw further progress with the opening of their new offices in Camough at the beginning of the week. they have launched their Early Years Centre at St Patricks Cullyhanna.
