Ulster University in collaboration with safefood are carrying out research into current handwashing facilities and practices in childcare services in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The findings will be used to design interventions improving handwashing practice amongst young children (2-4 years old). This is key to improving not just their health and wellbeing but also to reduce the burden of communicable disease in the general population.
You are being invited to take part in this research project. Each participating childcare service will have a short visit from the research assistant during which two short interviews (10 to 15 minutes) will be conducted. During this visit, the research assistant will also observe the handwashing facilities, policies and signage in place. All responses and data collected are anonymised and kept strictly confidential. If you do decide to take part, you will be provided with an information sheet with more details.
