The Support Service

Early Years Specialists and Development Workers will support early years settings in:

  • Carrying out self-evaluation – enabling staff as a team to identify the strengths and modifiable issues of their provision
  • Planning for developments needed in order to sustain continuous improvement
  • Selecting training and support programmes which will meet their setting's developmental needs
  • Planning the learning and development programme
  • The implementation of observation and assessment techniques - which meets the children's individual needs
  • Developing arrangements with relevant primary schools designed to help the children make a smooth transition to year 1
  • Developing strategies for working collaboratively with parents
  • Enabling staff to collaborate more effectively with their local community
  • The implementation of evidence-based models of good practice – which will enrich the curriculum
  • Drawing up development plans
  • Drawing up action plans
  • Sourcing funding opportunities
