The Support Service

Early Years Specialists and Development Workers will support early years settings in:

  • carrying out self-evaluation – enabling staff as a team to identify the strengths and modifiable issues of their provision
  • planning for developments needed in order to sustain continuous improvement
  • selecting training and support programmes which will meet their setting's developmental needs
  • planning the learning and development programme
  • the implementation of observation and assessment techniques - which meets the children's individual needs
  • developing arrangements with relevant primary schools designed to help the children make a smooth transition to year 1
  • developing strategies for working collaboratively with parents
  • enabling staff to collaborate more effectively with their local community
  • the implementation of evidence-based models of good practice – which will enrich the curriculum
  • drawing up development plans
  • drawing up action plans
  • sourcing funding opportunities
